Equality
and Economy
- Studies on the

Promoting gender

law
The creation of the Conference
of Equality and Economy by WWB came from observation of the
discrimination that threatens women in the economy.
In spite of having achieved
a certain level of equality in some areas, women still have
to endure obvious discrimination in the areas of economy and
employment, where truly important decisions are made. The
female voice is absent in many key decisions. Besides,
they run a significantly higher risk than men of falling below
the poverty line.
To combat this inequality
it is necessary to adopt legal and institutional measures.
The Conference of Equality and Economy strives to provide
a platform where solutions and
alternatives can be proposed with the aim of enabling women
to have access to the economy, and improving the situation
of gender equality in these areas.
Since the
first Conference in May 2002, four
more have taken place to discuss matters which specifically
affect the access of women to the economy: the initiatives
aimed at the financial inclusion of women, alternative experiences
of financing, the impact of microcredits on their lives, the
situation of women in rural areas.
The time and place of the next
Conference of Equality and Economy, and the how to
sign up will be available on
this web page.
