In 2006, we opened the first
Trade House in Marrakech; 200
Moroccan craftswomen participated in since the opening.
The first part of this project
is focused on the commercialisation
of handcraft production in a shared space. Every three
months, a group of between 30 and 35 craftswomen come and
deliver their products. For three months the staff of the
Trade House is in charge of commercial activity, allowing
the women to return to their businesses. At the end of this
period, the money from the sale of their products is delivered
to them.
As well as the commercial
activity, the Trade House gives
free training in design, marketing and product quality to
the participants. This strengthens the
craftswomen’s abilities in two stages:
-
At the start, when the women
first deliver their products to the shop by giving specialised
training,
-
At the end of the two months
when a report covering product quality and ways to improve
the product is delivered.
Participation in the Trade
House of Marrakech is free
and open to all Moroccan craftswomen.
Formación en calidad de los
productos
